Sarah and Michael shared the most joyful summer wedding at Airlie with their dear family and friends. Filled with pastel tones, and some vibrant purple and magenta, this cheerful color palette matched the entire vibe of the day: pure happiness. I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with such a kind couple. From their initial inquiry, to their gorgeous Virginia countryside engagement session, and all the way up to their wedding, Sarah and Michael were incredibly fun to work with. They just exude joy- keep scrolling to see their amazing smiles and some of my favorite snapshots from this summer celebration.
To Sarah and Michael: documenting your wedding was an absolute privilege. Thank you again for trusting to me capture these memories!

Look at all those gorgeous peonies!

Sarah shared the sweetest first look with her dad prior to the ceremony.

After a few individual portraits, it was time for the ceremony to begin in the beautiful formal garden area at Airlie. This spot is stunning for a ceremony, especially in the summertime with the hydrangeas in bloom.

These black and white images are probably my top favorites- I just love the happiness!

Airlie has so many beautiful places for portraits, like these rather iconic steps.

Prior to their summer wedding, Sarah and Michael buried the bourbon, and it worked! The rain held off for their ceremony. This is one of my favorite wedding customs- if you are not familiar, burying the bourbon one month prior to the wedding at the venue is said to keep the rain away and ensure good weather. It is a Southern wedding tradition, and in my experience, it pays off (plus it makes for some great photo opportunities!)

Sarah and Michael requested some late night flash portraits, and I am SO glad they did.
